I
bought the DryBuddy EZ Bed Wetting Alarm because my 7 year old son is a
heavy sleeper and does not sense the sensation to urinate. I chose this
brand because of the cost, and especially the Sound & Vibration
feature. Because of my son's deep sleep nights, he needs more than sound
to awake him. To my surprise, I Do See An Improvement- Yes!!!
During the first week, I made sure he woke up with the alarm sounding, but his bed would still be completely wet. I still sent him to the bathroom, even if he did not feel that he could urinate. I encouraged him and reassured him that it would get better.
After the second week, I noticed him waking up to the alarm without my help, and relieving himself in the toilet. It was not much because he still wet the bed, but this was a sign of improvement.
During the third and fourth week, he is waking up a lot quicker to the alarm. He goes to the bathroom and relieves himself completely on many occasions. When his bed is wet, it is not soaked, just a small spot. He is excited about the progress. I think we are on our way!!!
To help make this a success, we add stickers to the calendar and rewards. We really make a big-to-do out of his milestones.
With that said, there were a few cons: on one occasion the volume was too low to hear. I don’t know if we did not check it or if it got turned down during his sleep time, since the volume is a roller knob.
Another occasion, the alarm was turned off during sleep. Although the on/off button is flush with the alarm, it is still possible to depress the button. More indention might be nice.
Lastly, my son is able to attach the alarm to his undergarment without my help, but it could be easier. He has some difficulty getting the garment flat enough to get inside the sensor. It is not a problem for me to attach the sensor, but he likes being independent with this process.
I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a way to help their child to be successful with waking up and staying dry during bedtime. My husband and I have tried many measures, but this is the first time trying an alarm. I am pleased, less linen and pajamas to wash, and my son is happy.
